  • I am the first to admit that I am no art student.  I can’t draw, can’t paint, and I am a bit of a klutz.  So while over the years I have learned how to wield a mean eyeshadow brush, I always stayed away from the airbrush industry.  To me it looked very labor intensive, messy, expensive…and difficult to use for someone who wasn’t just this side of Van Gogh.
Then Luminess sent The BIZ the Airbrushing Beauty Kit to try.  Marcia and I had a mean arm wrestling match over this…and she won.  But I tried it out for a week before I gave it to her, cause I was mad she beat me.  And I am now officially obsessed.

I am going to give you my impressions, and Marcia will give hers at a later date.  We got the Pro System ($309.95), which includes the following:
The airbrush system in a pretty silver traveling case, the stylus you use for application has three different settings from extra fine to wide spray; a CD that is essential – be sure to watch this before trying out the system; foundation – four shades, you can choose from fair, medium, tan, or dark shades; bronzer; pearlizer; primer.
They also included two eye shadows for us to try.  I found that the system was incredibly easy to use and super fun.  I had a blast trying things out and using different color combinations.  You just put a few drops of the water-based liquid into the sprayer, and then spray away.  It shoots out an extremely fine mist, and you control whether you want more or less product at a time.
I liked the primer, and the foundation was spectacular.  There just isn’t anything like a true airbrush look.  There was no specific concealer, you just use a higher concentration of the foundation.  And the best way to use the foundation is to spray very lightly…then spray again very lightly…and continue until you have the coverage you want.
It took me a few times to get the hang of the blush.  Again, it’s best to use a light spray and go over it a few times until you get the color you want.
The shimmer spray was fabulous as a highlighter, and I especially loved the bronzer.  Most difficult for me were the eye shadows, pictured above – this is where some artistic talent comes in handy, but I did find that after I practiced a few times I did get the hang of it.  You can even do your brows and line your eyes with this great product.
I found that I was able to get a great natural look, and a wonderful more dramatic evening look in just minutes.  Here I thought it would take MORE time, but instead it’s way LESS time that what I usually spend putting on makeup.  You do need to clean the system each time you use it, but it’s just a matter of spraying clear water through the stylus.
I was so impressed with this system, and I can’t quit thinking about it since I handed it over to Marcia.  I am going to get it back, I swear…and then I will post some before and after pics.  Until then, I will dream of the day she returns the system…and long for the tanning system as well!! - Lisa
